Long Away is the name of a two-part Queen story drawn by Yuri Kitagawa (who also went by "Juli K"). It's true fanfiction in that it tells a fictional story regarding Brian and his decision to pursue music over academics. It includes "Christina", Brian's girlfriend, who is no doubt modeled on an imagined version of Brian May's real partner at the time. The artwork is of very high caliber. Kitagawa also drew for Manken Queen and had several stories published in Hana to Yume in the 70s.

I have included on this site some scans I came across of the original artwork for this series. I'm not quite sure of the circumstances of their origin, but I recognized them immediately as the manuscript for this story. The blog they were found on now appears to be defunct. They were listed as being from a sketchbook, with credit given to someone with a different name, meaning "Yuri Kitagawa" was probably a penname. The artist was from Fukuoka, which was a hotbed of Japanese Queen fandom at the time. (Included in this batch of scans were some drawings reproduced from The Red Rose of King's Road.)

It must be noted that I decided to omit a couple of panels involving some Boys Love content—it was shoehorned in and wasn't necessary to the plot in any event.
