Note: Everything about this comic is bizarre. It’s a completely fictional spoof on Queen’s origin that appeared in an underground music zine based out of Kansai and is much more cynical and adult-oriented than shoujo manga. It ostensibly takes place in London, but it’s written as though it takes place in Japan—Japanese geography, culture, and language are all reflected. Brian even speaks in Tsugaruben, an obscure, difficult-to-translate northern accent; this gives him a country bumpkin feel although of course in real life Brian is actually extremely intelligent. Everyone is written way out-of-character. There is some BL subtext, but it’s not explicit and everyone’s personality is so unrealistic to begin with that I felt like it didn’t really matter. Freddie in particular has a completely different personality, Roger is an ingenue, and for some reason John was given a stutter.
