Queen is featured on the back cover, in an image erroneously cited as being from a (non-existent) 1978 Budoukan performance.Pure Rock Picturebook is an artbook containing illustrations by shoujo mangaka of their favorite rock songs and artists. It was published in 1978. The illustrations are stunning, and include songs such as Jumping Jack Flash by The Rolling Stones, Young American by David Bowie, and Baby I Love Your Way by Peter Frampton. Artists featured include some members of 24-gumi, Yasuko Aoike (author of From Eroica with Love and Sons of Eve), as well as Nachi Mikami, amongst others.
Black Queen is the featured Queen illustration, drawn by Tomoko Naka, who incidentally also contributed to Manken Queen. A Japanese translation of lyrics to March of the Black Queen is printed on the facing page.
