Notice about the dissolution of the QFCJ
August 1975
This will be the final newsletter for the Queen Fan Club of Japan.
Over the past year, we the staff have been doing our best and working as hard as we can to support Queen and get as many people as possible interested in their music. We intend to continue planning various events and supporting Queen along with the rest of you.
However, World Leisure (Watanabe Productions), the people who had invited Queen to tour Japan in the first place, has decided to form their own Queen Fan Club, which means that the QFCJ will no longer be recognized by them, even though they had been so kind to us up to this point. Warner had intended for us to run the F.C. for them in-house but when they rescinded their invitation, there was nothing left for us to do.
With over 3,200 members, the QFJC is a very sizable fanclub; but losing official recognition means we'd no longer be able to obtain concert tickets or learn insider info. These circumstances would make it extremely difficult to continue.
We the staff would feel awful continuing to ask for membership dues from the fans who value Queen the most without being able to offer much in return. So we have decided to disband the first generation of the Queen Fan Club of Japan. Thank you for your continued support these past couple of years. From this point on, please contact Warner Pioneer regarding fan club matters at the address listed below. We do not know anything about the new fan club so please do not write us.
And please continue to support Queen!
P.S. We will refund those who have paid membership dues through August or later, but please note we cannot refund shipping costs. We will also refund those who joined in June or July.
